Violin Scholarship & John Kitchingman FoundationWe are very pleased to announce that the Violin Scholarship introduced in 2009 is to be continued - see page 16, class 45b of the Syllabus.
The winner of this class will be invited to play with the de Havilland Philharmonic for a year, sitting next to and mentored by the leader of the Orchestra, Richard Aylwin and leader of the second violins, Ruth Hudson. Entrants must be at Grade 8 level or above and live or study in Hatfield or surrounding areas. The winner must be able to attend and play at five Thursday evening rehearsals (7.30-10.00pm) that precede each Sunday evening concert by the de Havilland Philharmonic at UH starting in June 2012. Rehearsals are held at the University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield. He/she will receive £75 towards expenses. In addition to the Violin Scholarship above, we are delighted to announce that another opportunity to play with the de Havilland Philharmonic will continue to be offered in 2012, also for string players - The John Kitchingman Foundation - see page 16, class 45a of the Syllabus. The focus here is on Viola, Double Bass and Cello players. The winner of this class will need to have the same amount of commitment, the contribution to expenses will be the same (£75) and he/she will be required to start rehearsals in June 2012. |
